Waking up each morning in Costa Rica felt like living inside a postcard — all lush jungle, sweeping ocean views, and the soundtrack of howler monkeys in the trees. There’s a wildness to Peninsula Papagayo that still manages to feel refined. You’re surrounded by nature at its most untouched, but everything about the experience is effortless and luxurious.

We started each day at the villa with a custom breakfast from our private chef — strong Costa Rican coffee, fresh local fruit, and that view. It became our ritual, and it set the tone for the entire trip: slow, intentional, and grounded in place. We found ourselves totally unplugging in a way that’s hard to come by in our everyday lives.

One of the most memorable moments came courtesy of The Club Concierge, who arranged a private dinner for us at Prieta Beach Club. Barefoot in the sand, watching the sky melt into the sea while eating fresh seafood — it was magic. A setting like that has a way of freezing time. It’s the kind of evening you wish you could bottle up and revisit whenever life gets busy.

We also had an in-villa spa experience that surprised us in the best way. It was one of the best massages we’ve ever had — not just technically, but in how relaxed and cared for we felt. The ability to enjoy it right there in our villa made it feel even more personal and indulgent.

On an unplanned afternoon, we wandered down to Poro Poro Beach Club: a lesser-known gem that felt like our own little secret. The vibe was laid-back and local, with just enough energy to keep things interesting. We sipped something tropical, swam in the warm ocean, and let the afternoon unfold without any agenda. That, to us, is the ultimate luxury.

What stood out the most (beyond the jaw-dropping scenery) was the warmth of the people. Everyone we met, from the chefs to the spa team, welcomed us with a genuine kindness that made us feel more like houseguests than visitors. It’s that spirit that stayed with us the most.

If we had one more day? Nick would be out on the golf course — it’s easily one of the most stunning he’s ever played. And I’d be back at the beach for one more sunset, toes in the sand, watching the sky turn every shade of pink and gold. Costa Rica has a way of getting under your skin — in the best way.
