Peninsula Papagayo is one of those destinations where every moment feels like a gift. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this would be a vacation to remember. The Peninsula has everything you could want: secluded beaches, thrilling outdoor activities, golf, and an incredible diversity of wildlife. It’s a place that suits both those who want to explore and those who prefer to relax, and for our family, it was the perfect balance of both.

One of the most magical aspects of the Peninsula is how much beauty lies right at your doorstep. The beaches just below our villa were absolutely stunning, with calm, clear waters perfect for swimming. What truly stood out was the solitude — most of the time, it felt like we had the beach all to ourselves. It was an unforgettable experience.

Each morning began with a breathtaking sunrise viewed from our patio, paired with a steaming cup of Costa Rican coffee — easily some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The panoramic eastward views made it the perfect spot to start the day. After a leisurely breakfast, I loved heading out for a morning walk. The early hours were filled with wildlife sightings, and walking down to the beach became a cherished ritual.

A highlight of our stay was the private dining experience we had with Chef María, who came to our villa to cook a special meal for our family. The lobster ravioli and surf-and-turf were absolutely divine, and we couldn't stop talking about it for the rest of the trip. Having Chef María cook for us was a perfect option, especially with young kids who can be unpredictable. It felt like a personal touch that made our stay even more memorable.

For a true taste of adventure, we spent a day zip-lining through the rainforest. The rush of soaring above the treetops was exhilarating, and the whole family loved it. Even my dad, who’s afraid of heights, had a blast. We got to spend time chatting with our guides, who shared their local knowledge and gave us a deeper appreciation for Costa Rican culture. It was an experience we’ll never forget.

The afternoons were often spent at Prieta Beach Club, where we'd swim, unwind, and sip cocktails while watching the sunset over the water. The views were nothing short of breathtaking, especially as the sky changed colors over the horizon. One afternoon, we rented jet skis, which gave us an exhilarating way to explore the bay and take in the Peninsula from a completely new perspective.

The most unforgettable moment was watching our kids run down the beach, laughing and playing freely. There’s nothing quite like seeing them so happy, especially knowing that the monkeys were nearby, adding to the sense of wonder. It was a trip where we could truly unplug, relax, and enjoy being together as a family.

If I could return for just one more day, I’d repeat the perfect mix we’d already discovered: mornings spent at Poro Poro Beach Club, enjoying the quiet beauty of the coastline, and afternoons at Prieta Beach Club for a sunset cocktail. As a photographer, I couldn't get enough of the stunning scenery in the area. Saying goodbye was tough, but I’m already counting the days until I can return to this dream destination.

Staying with Exclusive Resorts truly made all the difference. The villa was spacious, with private patios for everyone, yet also had plenty of shared spaces where we could come together and enjoy each other’s company. The infinity pool, with its breathtaking views of the coast, quickly became a family favorite. And the daily visits from the monkeys? A pure delight. With every detail taken care of — from pre-trip planning to on-site services — we were able to fully unwind and focus on what mattered most: making memories together.
