The Perfect Family Destination: Nassau, Bahamas

Celebrate family time under the Bahamian sun.

Finding a vacation destination that can entertain everyone from toddlers to teens and still be enjoyable for adults can seem hopeless. Exclusive Resorts has discovered an escape that can deliver fun for all. Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, offers ageless adventures ranging from kayaking and snorkeling to gallery hopping the UNESCO Creative City’s museums and unique cultural venues.

The three Exclusive Resorts’ residences at Rosewood Baha Mar are the perfect base for family getaways. “The location is absolutely phenomenal for a quick getaway very close to the airport and easy to navigate,” says Club Members Matt and Helene Byrnes. Set on the soft sands of Cable Beach — widely considered one of the Bahamas’ most spectacular shorelines — the two-bedroom suites are done up in island chic décor and have access to every imaginable amenity.

“The resort has several great upscale and casual restaurants to choose from, numerous beautiful pools, a brand-new waterslide park that has a little bit of something for everyone, and beautiful beaches,” says Club Member John Hauschildt. “Combine all of that with extremely friendly staff and it makes Nassau one of the best Exclusive Resorts destinations we’ve visited.”

The pristine powdery beaches and crystalline sea are Nassau’s natural wonders, and The Club can arrange excursions both thrilling (diving underwater via Aqua Kart) and tranquil (lounging in water hammocks). Snorkeling isn’t the only option for close encounters with marine life. Bring the kids to Baha Mar’s Wildlife Sanctuary where they can touch stingrays, feed green sea turtles, ogle nurse sharks, and learn about the local marine ecosystem from resident experts.

Sea creatures aren’t the island’s only stars. The Bahamas’ most iconic birds, the flamingo, have their own dedicated on-resort habitat, Flamingo Cay. Experts tend to the resident flock and educate guests about the long-legged pink beauties, who come out to strut their stuff twice a day, including a one-of-a-kind flamingo yoga session.

Ready to make a splash? The entire family will have a blast at Baha Mar's new 15-acre oceanfront water park. With 24 slides, a dueling water coaster, a lazy river, and a 500,000-gallon wave pool, it’s an epic playground for all ages. Little ones will love the splash zones and mini slides while teens and adults can chill in the beachfront infinity pool. On land, golf fanatics can tee off at the 18-hole, par-72 Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course while aspiring golf pros can practice their swing at Mini Blue, a professionally-inspired 18-hole course complete with beautiful natural elements and challenging bends.

The culinary offerings at the resort cater to all palates from picky eaters to true gourmands. Every dining outlet offers a kids’ menu with guaranteed crowd-pleasers like grilled cheese and chicken tenders. The resort’s restaurants take guests on a global culinary journey: Café Boulud the Bahamas delivers a taste of France in the Caribbean, featuring dishes like classic French steak preparation tournedos rossini, while Costa serves up Mexican-inspired fare such as mahi mahi tacos and scallop ceviche.

Poolside, Members can order gussied-up childhood favorites like the wagyu hot dog or more health-conscious dishes like a salmon and avocado rice bowl. For a true bonding experience, gather the family in the Kitchen, a hands-on space that hosts cooking classes that teach you how to recreate Bahamian flavors back home.
