Dad-Approved Destinations

For the dad who has everything, give him an experience he won’t forget. Here are six Father’s Day getaways to celebrate him this year.

Whether you’re celebrating Father’s Day on a family vacation or sending him off for a well-earned break, make sure he’s spending the weekend at one of these dad-approved destinations chosen just for him.

For the Golfer

If his favorite time is tee time, there’s no better way to celebrate Father’s Day than with a retreat to the links at these great golf destinations. June is a particularly idyllic month to spend at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California, where craggy cliffs and undulating greens are made all the more spectacular by the temperate San Diego sun. Torrey Pines features two championship 18-hole golf courses: The South Course is well-suited for golfers looking for a stiffer challenge, while the North Course features breathtaking scenery on supremely playable terrain. Stay at one of the Club’s three-bedroom residences in La Jolla, located just 15 minutes from Torrey Pines.

Other Golf Getaways:  Kiawah Island, South Carolina; Abaco Islands, Bahamas; Scottsdale, Arizona; Sea Island, Georgia; St. Andrews, Scotland.

For the Outdoor Adventure Seeker

For the active father who loves mountain biking, fly fishing, or hiking, an alpine retreat to Deer Valley checks every box. The Club’s fourteen residences at Ironwood and Montage Deer Valley are ideally situated for mountain pursuits and a luxury nature vacation — simply walk out the door and your mountainous playground greets you. Additionally, guests of Montage Deer Valley can partake in archery, ATV excursions, and golf, as well as private curated day trips and day-long Montage Expeditions to Canyonlands, Yellowstone, or Arches National Park.

Other Outdoor Adventure Destinations: Costa Rica; Sun Valley, Idaho; Vail, Colorado; Telluride, Colorado; Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada

Wine tasting in Napa

For the Oenophile

For fans of food and wine travel, send dad to Napa or Sonoma to enjoy a weekend of private tours and complimentary tastings with some of the Club’s wine partners. Begin with an afternoon at Bricoleur Vineyards, an idyllic Russian River Valley retreat home to not only vineyards but olive groves and a honey farm. Winemaker Cary Gott crafts their elegant wines, ranging from unoaked Chardonnay to Alexander Valley Zinfandel. Next, be sure to visit Faust Haus in Napa. This former dairy farm has been transformed to include elegant tasting areas and a basement speakeasy. Enjoy a glass of their full-bodied, decadently rich, and unctuous Cabernet Sauvignon while listening to the history of the property — and stories of the ghosts who continue to keep it safe. Finish the weekend in the heart of Rutherford at Quintessa, a 280-acre site that reflects a diversity of geology, biodiversity, exposures, and microclimates. Their 160 acres are planted with a variety of grapes and farmed organically and biodynamically.

Other Vineyard Vacations: Tuscany, Italy

For the Foodie & Culture Connoisseur

Home to 24 Michelin-starred restaurants, world-class museums and exhibits, and sophisticated nightlife, Chicago is an ideal city to be explored by dads who appreciate fine food and culture. The Windy City truly shines in June when the pleasantly warm temperatures have the city abuzz at every turn. Spend the day taking in architecture and art, then have your Club Concierge help you make a reservation at the famed Alinea restaurant for a one-of-a-kind gastronomic experience. End the evening with a craft cocktail at The Aviary before heading back to your spacious Exclusive Resorts residence, which boasts 180-degree views of the Chicago River, Lake Michigan, and the Wrigley Building.

Other Food & Culture Locales: San Francisco, California; New York, New York; Las Vegas, Nevada; Miami, Florida

For the Beachcomber

If dad’s primary objective is to kick back and relax, there’s no better vacation than one centered around a white sand beach. Unwind in barefoot luxury on the island of Nevis, located in the Caribbean’s Lesser Antilles archipelago. June follows the tail end of the region’s peak season, but those in-the-know recognize this is one of the best times to visit — storm season typically doesn’t hit until mid-summer, and the absence of crowds offers a truly tranquil setting to unwind on island time. Stay at one of Exclusive Resorts’ three, four-bedroom villas or two, two-bedroom beachfront bungalows in the villa-only resort, Paradise Beach Nevis

Other Tropical Temptations: Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Turks & Caicos, Bahamas; Islamorada, Florida Keys
