Teton Tales
Your guide to a perfect girls’ weekend in Jackson Hole.
If you’re looking for a winter girls’ getaway beyond the typical beach escape, look no further: Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is the perfect place. This charming mountain town blends old Western charm with thrilling snow adventures, plus an incredible selection of dining, shopping, and activities to make your trip unforgettable.
Day 1
Our day began with a visit to Cowboy Coffee in Teton Village, where we fueled up with some breakfast. While the menu offers a variety of unique drinks, I couldn't resist the Huckleberry Mudpot: white chocolate, huckleberry, espresso, and steamed milk. If you’re feeling hungry, I highly recommend the Cowboy Croissant — a flaky croissant filled with fried eggs, bacon, red peppers, cheddar cheese, and avocado aioli — my mouth waters just thinking about this breakfast sandwich.
After getting a caffeine boost, we headed across the street to our most anticipated activity of the weekend: dog sledding! I cannot recommend Call of the Wyld Dogsled Tours enough — the guides are incredibly knowledgeable, the dogs are absolutely adorable, and the views are breathtaking. During our private one-hour dogsled tour, each group of two was loaded into a sled pulled by a team of Alaskan huskies and driven by qualified guides. Starting slowly on groomed paths, we eventually zoomed into an open meadow below the Teton range.
After working up an appetite, we headed to Hatch Taqueria & Tequilas for tacos and margaritas. I went for the Carne Asada tacos, which were phenomenal, but most of the group opted for the burrito bowls, which also looked amazing. We shared pitchers of regular and spicy margaritas, made from 100% agave, to warm up after a chilly morning in the snow. Personally, I love a little spice, so the spicy margarita was a perfect choice!
Despite below-zero temperatures, we decided to embrace the cold and head out for another outdoor animal tour. This time, it was off to the National Elk Refuge for a sleigh ride. This experience was nothing short of magical. After climbing onto a horse-drawn sleigh, we ventured into the refuge, getting up close and personal with the elk. I honestly felt like a cowgirl! Our guide shared a wealth of knowledge about the elk’s migration, history, rut, and more. This surrounding landscape of the Grand Tetons provided the perfect backdrop. By the end of the day, our group was cold and tired, so we decided to stay in and cook dinner at our residence, opting for a cozy night in.
Day 2
Day two kicked off with brunch at Café Genevieve, where a mouthwatering menu and the warm, rustic charm of a historic log cabin set the perfect tone for the morning. The menu was packed with delicious options, from savory classics like corned beef hash and eggs benedict to sweet indulgences like breakfast s’mores. Although I went with the savory route, the breakfast s’mores looked phenomenal — golden toasted marshmallows and graham cracker crumble on Nutella French toast.
After brunch, we headed out to explore the town and do some shopping, and, naturally, we had to stop at the iconic Kemo Sabe. While all the Western wear — hats, boots, and more — was beautiful, the real highlight is the personalized experience of customizing your own cowboy hat. The experience is heightened by expert guidance and the luxury atmosphere. As we designed our hats, we were met with VIP treatment, from complimentary tequila shots to design advice. Once our hats were ready, we put them on and explored other local shops like MADE and Jackson Hole Jewelry Co.
Once we got our shopping fix in, it was time for more outdoor fun. This time, we headed to Snow King Mountain for tubing, the famous Cowboy Coaster, and scenic gondola rides. Pro tip: buy the Triple Play Pass, which includes an hour of tubing, an hour on the Cowboy Coaster, and of course, a gondola ride. While some might consider these activities childish, I cannot emphasize enough how much fun we had!
After hours of outdoor fun, we headed home to prepare for our big night out. And yes, I mean the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. But first, our evening began at the Million Dollar Cowboy Steakhouse, located downstairs from the iconic bar. With an extensive selection of steaks and cocktails, it was tough to choose just one. I went for the classic NY Strip Steak, which was cooked to perfection and paired with a dirty martini. While everything looked delicious, I was satisfied with my choice. The atmosphere in this classic steakhouse was exceptional, featuring dim lighting, chic ambiance, and décor that I would describe as Western luxury.
After dinner, we headed upstairs to the bar, where we were greeted with live music, line dancing, and pool tables. And, of course, I can’t forget the famous saddle barstools. We spent the majority of the night on the dance floor, enjoying the band’s country classics and reveling in the lively atmosphere.
Day 3
Our final morning in Jackson finally arrived. We packed up, enjoyed coffee and breakfast by the fireplace, and soaked in the views of the Tetons one last time. While some in the group headed to the airport, others lingered around town, where we enjoyed one final hurrah at Snake River Brewing. This meal was more casual than the others, with bar bites and craft beers. Our favorites included wood-fired nachos, bison burgers, and the truffle mushroom pizza. The beer selection, from IPAs to pale ales, had something for everyone. Sadly, it was time for us to head to Jackson Hole Airport, where we lounged in leather chairs by the fireplace, waiting to board our respective flights back home. It was a bittersweet goodbye to the Tetons, but we will definitely be back. With its perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and Western charm, Jackson Hole is sure to create unforgettable memories for you and your friends on an adventure-filled girls' getaway.
